Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Dubai Land Department
MoU aims to build a cooperative relationship between the two entities to achieve common strategic objectives
Running sports | Nike The Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center (HHC) today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Land Department . The MoU aims at building a cooperative relationship between the Center and the Department in order to facilitate information sharing and create a veritable repository of knowledge and information relating to the geographic history of the United Arab Emirates and the social evolution of its people. This will be done through the exchange of documents and research findings and through facilitating the documentation of verbal agreements and oral contracts entered into by senior citizens who have lived through the period before the establishment of the Dubai Land Department .The signing ceremony was held in the presence of H.E. Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of the Dubai Land Department , and H.E. Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmook, CEO of HHC, as well as a number of senior HHC staff members including Dr. Amina Al Dhaheri, Director of Research and Studies; Souad Darwish, Director of Championships; Ibrahim Abdul Rahim, Director of Events; and Fatima Arif Al Bannai, Manager of Al Oula Radio and the HHC Media Office.
Commenting on the agreement, Sultan Butti Bin Mejren said: "We are pleased to sign this MoU with HHC in order to share experiences and facilitate the exchange of important historical documents. Having been established 55 years ago, the Department today has more than 1.5 million documents in its possession, and we look forward to working closely with the Center in safeguarding these documents. We plan to evolve more cooperative frameworks in the field of heritage conservation in the coming years, and will also be initiating measures to make these documents available to researchers and individuals who require it."
H.E. Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmook said: "The Dubai Land Department is one of the oldest public entities in the UAE. The Department has a treasure trove of historical documents and records that contain valuable information on the history of Dubai and the UAE, and our cooperation with them is in line with our strategic plan to establish HHC as the most reliable source for conservation of the UAE's national heritage."
"This is HHC's first partnership with a government entity in Dubai, and we look forward to signing more such cooperation agreements in order to develop a national archive that serves the needs of students and researchers," he added.
The agreement comes as part of the Center's Wathiqati initiative, which aims to contribute to the conservation and documentation of the UAE's national heritage and provide a strong historical reference for future generations by preserving and archiving historical documents and collectibles.
